My topic for the multimedia project is “Best restaurants in Kamloops.” There is a lot of worth visiting restaurants in town. I will explore the best restaurants in Kamloops and tell you why I recommend the restaurants.
b. Discuss the scope of the topic, generally giving a sense of what it will and will not cover
I evaluate the restaurants that I think are the best in town are cost, accessibility, taste, and atmosphere (including service). I focus on those 4 components when I evaluate the restaurants because these are the things most people might care about when they visit restaurants. Everyone has different budgets, and parking spots are important because transportation in Kamloops is very limited. Tastes of the food and service are definitely significant materials when people rate the restaurants. I will ask the most popular food of the restaurant, and if possible rank top 3 foods which I recommend. I will also ask the tips that most people don’t know and should try when they go to the restaurants. I will not cover unpopular foods.

To start the project, I wanted to decide the topic in which everyone is interested. The first thing which came to mind was food, and I thought it’s suited to this project because everyone likes eating. I have been here in Kamloops for about a year, but I still don’t know about Kamloops. I wanted to explore here, but I couldn’t because of COVID. I knew there were many worth visiting restaurants in town, but there was no chance to visit there. I think some people have the same feelings as me. So my topic is best for those who like eating and are new to Kamloops.

I will pay attention to what my audience wants to know and what exactly I want to tell them. To clarify, my goals are the most important, and my mission is to tell my audience that there are many worth visiting restaurants in Kamloops. After my audience visited my website, they felt “I want to go there” My project is successfully done. To achieve my objective, I have to make a valuable website with nice photos, videos, and other techniques.

Take photos and videos as possible as I can.
Interview random customers.
Split up into 3 categories: Asian, fast foods, and fancy restaurants.
Interview employees.
Research about the restaurants before visiting

Ask the employees these questions: are you satisfied with the work, why did you start working here, what is the most popular food of the restaurants, about how many people visit a day, how much do people spend here, and some other questions. I will bring my phone and record the conversations.
c. Editorial Slideshow – pitch the story you will tell in this project and explain why it suits the media
I am going to take a bunch of photos, and I think the slideshow is one of the best ways to show my audience to see the process of cooking.
d. Investigative Video – pitch the story you will tell in this project and explain why it suits the media
I will take a video of the cooking and eating scenes of other customers. I will also ask the customers some questions such as how did you choose the restaurants, is this your first time coming here, and do you want to recommend here to others why or why not.
